Thursday, May 7th, 14th, 21st, 28th | 6pm-9pm
Instructor: Christopher Williams
In this 4-week course, students will learn a variety of luscious surface decoration techniques to take into their own making practice.
During the class the instructor will provide different demos and examples of techniques like: mishima, sgraffito, inlay, layering glaze, glaze painting.
Students are encouraged to come with ideas of what their surface ideas are or just play with different styles of making and glazing responsibly!
Materials are provided, such as: clay, underglaze, glaze, slips, overglaze washes, underglaze crayons, underglaze pencils.
Students will start the class creating surfaces to experiment with, and end the class with test tiles and small experiments to better inform their practice.
LVL2 PREREQUISTES: students should have a basic understanding of clay in that they are comfortable making various forms and are curious to learn how to make informed glazing decisions. Our level2 classes encourage folks that are ready for a next step, but aren’t sure about specifics. We are very nice and want you to find community out of your comfort zone!!
