Thursdays, April 9th, 16th, 23rd, 30th | 6pm-9pm
Instructor: Christopher Williams
4 sessions • 3 Hours
In this 4-week course, students will focus on basic hand building techniques to create clay bodies. The instructor will demonstrate introductory ways to approach and think about sculpting a body - human, animal and creature. During the class, we will look at historical and contemporary examples of clay figuration and students will be provided ample work time during class with guidance and feedback, based on individual desires.
Students will be provided with resources for references, but are also encouraged to bring in their own examples, images or objects for inspiration. Students will leave with 1-2 (could be 2-3?) clay small-medium clay figures, and experience with, coiling, slab building, pinching, and surface decoration in clay.
